To all you lovely people, its time to introduce another writer at The Phonograph. Those of you familiar with 1.0 last year will have already recognised the lady below but for those new to the blog we’re delighted to bring you Mei, our third writer and head of persuading people that we’re worth checking out (a tough task!).
Some say… that her baby brother does all the actual work at the computer whilst she’s off somewhere else sunning herself and that, given the chance, she would happily allow Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to fight over her!
Bio: Female, 22, but after a bout of volunteer work and a slew of job interviews hopes to get something soon!
Music: Anything goes really but there is a focus on interesting finds through the Internet as well as the generic Pop-Punk, Indie, acoustic and odd Rock music now and then.
Generic Stereotype: Indie kid, Jesus hippie freak who wants to change the world. No wait, will change the world.
If I grabbed your headphones right now who would I be most likely to be listening to?
Mayday Parade – I’d Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About
What is the music event of the year?
I’m gonna say Friendly Fires‘ performance at Radio 1’s Big weekend. It was just pure amazing and excitement! Their music really came alive in the live performances of ‘Kiss of Life‘ and ‘Jump in the Pool‘. The added extra layers of beats, really gave the performance a more lively, carnival-type feel to it. Incredible.
For you, when does music begin?
I won’t count Avril Lavigne, hush. I think when I really got into music was when I loved all the old Indie stuff like The Libertines, Razorlight, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Those were the good ol’ days!
